Welcome to Calder Baptist Church!

We eagerly welcome the opportunity to get better acquainted. We strive to offer warm hospitality, to embrace diverse people, and to engage good questions. We find it a great privilege to take steps of faith with everyone, whether during a first visit or after decades of “doing church” side by side. We truly believe people will find a welcoming environment at Calder Baptist Church.

Preschoolers, Children, and Youth find a safe place for encouraging growth and integration among God’s people. Young adults encounter direction and receive affirmation. Young Parents to Empty-nesters find fellowship and support. We celebrate and value Single Adults in all stages of life. Senior Adults enjoy activity and purpose.

Every person entering our building encounters The Divine Servant, a life-size bronze sculpture, depicting Jesus washing the feet of Simon Peter. In this representation of the biblical narrative, we behold a visible reminder of God’s desire for us to serve others as we grow in our understanding of God. This worthy goal guides us as a congregation on a daily basis.

The lyrics of The Servant Song offer a glimpse of what we’ve experienced as a church family, the Calder Baptist Church family, for over sixty years:

We are travelers on a journey, fellow pilgrims on the road;
We are here to help each other, walk the mile and bear the load.
I will hold the Christ-light for you, in the night-time of your fear;
I will hold my hand out to you, speak the peace you long to hear.

Sister, let me be your servant, let me be as Christ to you;
Pray that I may have the grace to, let you be my servant, too.
Brother, let me be your servant, let me be as Christ to you;
Pray that I may have the grace to; let you be my servant, too.

I will weep when you are weeping; when you laugh, I’ll laugh with you;
I will share your joy and sorrow, till we’ve seen this journey through.
When we sing to God in heaven, we shall find such harmony;
Born of all we’ve known together, of Christ’s love and agony.

In every attempt to hold the Christ-light high for all to see, we view our congregation as a place to start, a place to start over, and a place to stay. Oh that we may be as Christ to you . . . Welcome to Calder Baptist Church!
