Worship Through Music at Calder Baptist Church
This choir provides leadership for congregational song and choral selections for Sunday and holiday worship services. Using both piano and pipe organ accompaniment, the choir presents a variety of choral works covering the spectrum of classical to contemporary music.
Membership is open to post-high school age singers and beyond.
The choir rehearses each Wednesday evening 6:20 - 7:20 pm and is customarily rehearsing selections 3 to 5 weeks in advance of presentation, making it easy for new voices to be integrated into the ensemble. Child care is provided.
We offer choral scholarships to Lamar University students, welcoming the addition of their voices to the choir. Scholarship students are also invited to serve as hymn and warm-up rehearsal leaders. For more information about our scholarship program, please contact our Director of Music Ministry, Chris Richter.
Hand Bell Choir
Calder has a three octave hand bell, ringing a fine set of Schulmerich bells. Participation in the hand bell choir is open to any interested individual.
The choir rehearses Sunday afternoons, 4 pm. Child care is provided.
Young people (grades 6 through 12) are invited to participate in worship on a seasonal basis. The choir also serves as worship leaders on Youth Sunday each spring.
The choir rehearses Sunday afternoons, 5:15 pm, during part of the school year.
Inquiries about the Youth Choir may be directed to Brian Abel, Youth and Family Minister.
Young singers (grades 1 through 5) are invited to join in singing, musical training and fun activities each Wednesday evening beginning at 5:45 pm. The choir meets during the school year.
Our preschool singing group (ages 3 through 5) enjoy a fun-filled introduction to choral singing and music education. The group shares its songs with the congregation in different venues, reminding those present this group is aptly named.
Gathering Room Musicians
We welcome the opportunity to feature congregational and guest musicians in our Gathering Room. Providing music during the transition from the Sunday School hour to our morning worship, these musicians provide a variety of selections, all serving to inspire those moving through the covered walkway.
If you have questions and/or would like to participate in any of our music opportunities, please contact our Director of Music Ministry, Chris Richter:
