Worship Through Music at Calder Baptist Church
This main choir for Sunday morning worship offers choral selections ranging from classical to contemporary pieces. Four-part anthems, as well as solos, duets, and quartets, provide a rich layer to our services. The Chancel Choir utilizes the pipe organ and grand piano for varied accompaniment. Choir members rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 6:30-7:30 p.m. (following church supper). They work on music five weeks in advance which makes it easy to integrate new voices – all interested singers welcome! Choir members are given the opportunity to perform solos each week. In addition, the choir is enhanced by 8 scholarship students from Lamar University. They share their gifts each week in song and instrument.
This dedicated group of youth (6th through 12th grade) participates in worship on a quarterly and seasonal basis, as well as leading the service on Youth Sunday each Spring. Parents appreciate this opportunity as crowded academic schedules make it increasingly difficult to fit in music education. The Youth Choir rehearses at 5:15 p.m. on Sunday evenings during the school year.
This group of singers is comprised of members of the Chancel Choir who devote extra time to special musical pieces for approximately four services each year.
This aptly named group of young singers (1st through 5th Grade) enjoy a mixture of singing, musical training, and fun activities. Bright Voices meets throughout the school year.
Our preschool group (ages 3-5) provides a strong introduction to choral singing and music education. Dedicated leaders create a warm environment with age-appropriate activities. The Music Makers always make a unique contribution when they offer their gifts in worship.
